Chemo Watch...

Howdy Friends,

Salutations from Chemo Day #12.
I am happily feeling really good.
We had a wonderful weekend being proud parents at Sully's school play.

Sully was truly terrific.
He was a great Mowgli.
All the kids did a fantastic job.

I was so happy to be there -- feeling good and enjoying the moments.

We'll return to the oncologist this week to check all of my levels (the results from last week illustrated that I'm responding well to treatment.) The side effects continue to be manageable. My hair is starting to take the leap and jump ship hair-by-hair. I am truly okay with this. I know it is only temporary. When I was initially diagnosed that was the one thing I was really freaked out about but guess what? It's only hair and in the scheme of things so minor. This treatment will help bring us closer to our long term goal of being together in our retirement community in Palm Springs and seeing Sully grown up with kids of his own.

Wishing you a good week.

And a STAR is born!! I know that there has never been another Mowghli like Sully. Did he relish every moment? I know that the two of kvelled every moment...no point in even asking about that!!

Bald is beautiful...and cool...and to avoid sunburn, they make adorable baseball caps, complete with baubles, bangles and beads...not to mention those turbans you cited in a prior communication.

It is great to know that you are feeling so good, and that the chemo is doing its thing. Is it scheduled every 3 weeks?

We are getting excited about our family trip to Seattle...Hope we have some glorious adventures to share when we return.

With love to the three of you always.

You know Marla, your comment about your hair really hits the proverbial nail on the head. Its just hair! It will grow back! I'm not sure if you knew me then (but Mike certainly did) but until my early 30's I always had REALLY long hair, which I took way to seriously. One great, cathartic day I decided I'd never had short hair, so I had it all buzzed off. It was great, but the reaction I had from everyone who saw me for the first time was dramatic, and also rather humorous. All I could think was 'its just hair people, get over it...it will grow back.' In the years since its come and gone until time and genetics conspired to keep it short for good. Granted, the whole bald thing is a lot easier for a guy, but its what's on the inside that counts, and whether we like to think of it that way or not, our hair is kind of an accessory. So good for you for keeping it in perspective and taking it as another part of the adventure.

Sully's play sounds like it was great, and I'm sure he had a ball. Like many others, my journey to a career in the entertainment industry started with school plays; happy days indeed.

Wishing you, Mike and Sully a great week ahead!
