Home At Last...

I am happy to be home from my last hospital stay. There really is no place like home. Being surrounded by all that fills your heart with love and joy. Being with those you love. Being able to get up without notifying anyone. Being able to snuggle on the couch with your favorite blanket. Is there anything better than that?

As Mike posted the surgery went well. Doc B was very happy with the surgery and my initial recovery however, on Saturday morning something odd was noticed by him and one of the nurses. Mike describes it best by saying that I was literally drowning internally. The technical name for what was happening is SIADH. My sodium levels dropped from 132 to 116 in a matter of hours which caused severe confusion, restlessness, irritability, unresponsiveness, nausea and altered mood. I was not myself as my glassy eyes stared blankly at a corner in the wall. The room and my head were stuck in a perpetual spin. Thankfully things were under control before anything more serious happened (those being seizures and coma.) When I started to come around I did ask Mike what had happened. Bless his heart he was by my side during the worst of it. He explained what had happened and parts of Saturday are still continuing to unfold.

I had a blood test today to make sure that my sodium levels were maintaining since I have returned home and thankfully all seems good. They are currently at 136 which is the same number they were at yesterday morning prior to my discharge.

I am healing well. The pain if any is really minimal. I have a special thing that I am having to wear until next week called a bandeau. It's a 3" belt that has a Velcro closure. It is supposed to help put things in the right place. My post op doc visits are next week and I look forward to resuming driving.

In the meantime it is great to be home!

Marla, I've been remiss in following your blog, and I apologize! I'm so glad I saw you tonight, and I'm happy to know that you are doing better now. What a scary-sounding experience. You know that you are always in our thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Susan

Hey Marla, so glad to hear your perma-tits are in and you're home. Definitely could have done without all the sodium excitement...

Sending you healing vibes and a big (but gentle) hug.
