Twas The Night Before Chemo...

Twas the night before Chemo, and all through the home,
Not a creature was stirring...so we now write this poem.

The first doses of dexamethasone have been taken with care,
to help relieve the side effects -- but yes, I'll lose my hair.

Since I like to have all of my ducks in a row,
I've purchased some turbans to get on with this show.

I've been told that the barfing is a thing of the past,
with Emend and Aloxi and Kytril on task.

Fatigue is a thing with which I will cope,
but I MUST avoid crowds, friends with colds (please don't mope).

Tomorrow will be here, the sun it will shine,
the IV will administer my *TC just fine.

My nerves are at bay with support from my Mike,
We continue to laugh and tell fear "take a hike."

The treatments will pass, our hearts they will sing,
As we grow old and stay happy and retire in Palm Springs.

So to all who are reading, sending blessings and light,
We feel your love and say thank you... goodnight.

Ancora Imparo

Marla (& Mike on "poem punch up")

* TC: Taxotere/Cytoxin -- my chemo protocol

Thinking of you on the night before...Hope you have a good nights slumber. The first treatment shall be behind you when we next speak!!!!! Yippee!!!

Let me know if you want any visitors. I am available for pasta delivery or any other whim you may have including Chick-A-Fil (never heard of it)

Sully's play sounds pretty exciting!! I hope I will be in town to see this extravaganza!!

Oh dear...you've launched us into a round of xmas themed chemo parodies in verse...

You're a mean one, Mr. Chemo.
You really are a heel.
You're as cuddly as a cactus,
You're as charming as an eel.
Mr. Chemo.
You're a bad banana...with a greasy black peel.
You're a vile one, Mr. Chemo.
You have termites in your smile.
You have all the tender sweetness of a seasick crocodile.
Mr. Chemo.
Given the choice between the two of you, I'd take the uh... seasick crocodile.
Mr. Chemo.
The three words that best describe you are as follows and I quote: "Stink. Stank. Stunk."

Mr. Chemo, bring us our dream (bung, bung, bung, bung)
Make Marla's innerds so healthy and clean (bung, bung, bung, bung)
Let her have a report that we all can't get over
Then, tell us all that this big nightmare's over.

Mr. Chemo, you do the job...
Just don't be rough...not like corn on the cob...
Please turn on your magic beam.
Mr. Chemo, bring us our dream!!

Marla - Kick some cancer ass! The prayers are strong and steady my friend. Shall we put together a dinner calendar? Basically, since we all want to help in anyway we can, I can take names and say for the next month, you pick a day or two that you would like to make dinner for the Zach family. Marla & Mike, let me know if this would work for you? It might not but if it does, let me know and I will organize the hell out of it! Anyone who would like to be a part of the dinner calendar, let me know. with so much love, Stephenite and Michael

oh the news is no longer frightful
the image of turbans delightful
so since it's a temporary head
let it shed, let it shed, let it shed

the support shows no sign of slowing
(even tho this whole thing is blowing)
and the blog is so faithfully read
let it shed, let it shed, let it shed

when you started the whole poem thing
how your friends seemed to welcome the game
but the smiles that this 'aaron' does bring
i just can't help but feel lame

but with mr. chemo and sarah conner
well, win, i know you're gonna
so zacks, just hum as i've said
let it shed, let it shed, let it shed

Mar and Mike

I am relieved and happy that you are on track on your road to old age and blissful senility! I am not at all surprised that you and Mike are handling this with your signature humor and grace. When you are done or need a break - remember - Viva Las Vegas - I am always here for you!
