Hair Today...

Yesterday we Zacks had our usual 6 week outing and headed to our local haircut place to see our stylist Lida. Only this day was a little more special as it was the day I chose to cut my hair to make my ponytail donation for the Pantene Beautiful Lengths Campaign. Since making the decision to grow my hair out for the purpose of donating it back in late December I did my research and learned that unlike other organizations Pantene only requires 8 inches. And since surgery and a new chapter unfolds this week I thought there is no time like the present to take this step and make this adjustment.

With Mike and Sully by my side Lida gathered my hair into the prerequisite ponytail and began cutting. I have to say it was rather liberating. If I end up needing Chemo I am hopeful that the transition from short hair to no hair won't be as overwhelming.

With my new hairdo I have been told I look younger! Sully said I look like I am in my early 30's. Younger or not I begin this new week accepting and understanding that surgery will soon be here and with that I am getting closer to getting this cancer out of my body.

First of all, LOVE the hair, (seriously, not just one of those things you're supposed to say)...it's really flattering and hopefully when all is said and done, that will be the most traumatic part of this process (ok, maybe the surgery will edge it out a tad)...

...and b) (don't you love it when people interchange those listy things like 'a', '#2' , 'thirdly'...) where was I? Oh yes, #C, I hope you guys realize how brilliant this blog is. I hope it is providing a catharsis for you and giving you a way to not have to tell the same stuff over and over but I hope you know it is a real gift to those of us who care about you and want to know what's going on but don't want to be a burden to your already busy lives... you guys are also setting such great example of how to deal with one of life's most challenging times with grace and humor. Those of us lucky enough to not have have dealt with too much of this life crap yet, most likely will one day and having you guys as a model of how it can be done is really inspiring.

I look forward to hearing about the successful surgery and let you know you are in our thoughts.. a lot...

Love the haircut. And yes, it's very Molly Ringwald of you. It's been a long time since I've seen your hair that short. (and I've got yearbooks to prove it - hee hee)

To all of you...Thank you for the chance to be included in your lives. What a gift you have shared with us. This blog is creative and nothing short of wonderful...Like a real novel...Hear the ending (or beginning) is a mystery that turns out fabulous for the central character...a beautiful, gutsy girl named Marla. So OK, we read ahead. Let's get going to the sequel and put all the mess behind. Lots of luck and hugs...E and M
